declang is right!!! "Supplementary Restraint System". The bags used under this system are smaller than the American bags that are designed to operate without seatbelts (no mandatory seatbelt laws in some states) and are thus the "primary" restraint system.

Most americans wouldnt wear a seat belt to save thier life, having said that most americans have thier own built in safety systems and Im not talking about the cars.

That's correct, supplemental to the seat belts which have a pyro-technic trigger which tightens them in the event of a crash then the airbags inflate - on my car anyway. In fact the passenger airbag as two triggers the second one triggers 15 milliseconds after the first one.
