what is the difference between W124TE and saloon steel wheels

Out of interest – what is the difference between W124TE and saloon steel wheels? The TE ones have a sticker with a pic of the TE on them, however look identical to the non stickered saloon ones!??

I would have thought no difference either.

Only one thing springs to mind, some of the 124's had 205/60 x 15 tyres instead of the usual 195/65 x 15, i wonder if the wheels you refer to are possibly 7 x 15 instead of the 6 1/2" x 15 that IIRC the narrower tyres had?

Have a nose at the wheels, the width should be stamped on them.

I wonder if the TE have a higher load rating being for the estate. Bolide is the man who will know.

The rims are the same width, however maybe it is the load ratings....

The T-wheels weigh about twice as much and are made of incredibly thick steel

Presumably some poor MB test driver broke a wheel in a fully-loaded TE on the Nurburgring and the engineers specified a stronger wheel after that...
