Slightly concerned to find this under the drivers seat whilst hoovering the car out today.

Anyone have any idea what it's for? All the buttons work so I'm a bit stumped.

It could be an unused bit of harness for an option not specked on your seats, i.e. Massage, cooling, power lumbar, etc.
Maybe just check that there is no voltage to it, to put your mind at rest.

2005 CL500.
Hard to know. But, twisted pairs are usually associated with speakers.

I've punched the part number in and it came back with steering column.

Last year I did have an airbag fault which was fixed. Drivers side squib if I remember properly. The garage were thinking it might be something to do with the steering mechanism at the time as the fault occured when the steering wheel was repositioned.

They fixed the fault and when scanned the car shows no faults.
