I put mine in Neutral if the ground is flat

I can't on mine, it's either forward, park or drive. No hand/foot brake. That brake is electronically applied when you select park

Surely you’ve got the N option on the selector and a manual brake switch down by your right knee (not that I ever use it).

You are right, never noticed the brake switch down by my right knee in all of the 11 months i've owned the car
