Not too sure if you can fit tow bars on all AMG's. The diffuser and exhaust would be in the way on my E55k. Just a thought.

Not sure about every trim option. However any ML or GLE requires additional oil cooler to be fitted with the towbar...

I'm sure they would for climates warmer than the UK but given the thermal stresses of a car without an additional cooler in the Middle East or in the Atlas Mountains compared to one towing without one in the temperate relatively flat UK I'd be surprised if there was much need for the additional cooler. Just change the oil more regularly and keep an eye on the condition of the old oil.

You won't get 16-18mpg towing with a 63.I don't get that with mine & I don't tow anything other than the wife shopping;)

my handbook told me if i wanted to tow with my A class i would have to upgade the cooling system, bigger rad if memory seves. i just kept my eye on things and had no issues ,in northern france , i guess they cover themselfs in case i try to tug a trailer across north africa

Both the 163 and 164 are better off with an additional oil cooler if your towing, it's not so much it boils the ATF but on a longer towing run you can over het the tourque converter

I put an extra cooler on my 270 and when I took it in to have the trans rebuilt they reckon that it wasn't needed as the original was plenty.

The ML and GLE- just to repeat the build instructions- require additional oil cooler to be fitted for European market as a whole, for every engine selection available.

But don’t forget the 270 is W163 and uses the 5 speed 722.6 box, so you aren’t comparing apples with apples.
