Hi guys, I Thought it would be interesting to hear what mpg some of you are getting (petrol & diesel) Some friends of ours have a 230clk auto and regulary get 35 mpg which i think is pretty damn good! of course it will depend on the type of driving, long or short trips, traffic & how heavy your right foot is! but am just interested in the average & on a run. I own a w reg c220 cdi auto estate with 151,000 on the clock and on a round trip to work and back of 80 miles with a mixture of lanes a & b roads have got 48.44 and 48.54 based on 4.55 litrs/gallon (VERY PLEASED INDEED) on two separate days so i know its right and by filling tank to the brim is best way too tell if you try this, not by o/b computer. Regards Richard.

Not bad I think, just the ridiculous 1550 euro road tax to get my head around!

Besstus - your 48mpg is very good indeed. I have a 220cdi auto estate and that is returning an average 42mpg on a brim to brim since new - now with 12K on the clock. I hope it improves! I run in 'C' mode but may try 'S' to see if there is any difference. I do not cane it but keep to 70-80 on motorways and generally not exceeding the limit elsewhere.

Last week or two,

Around town - often 40mpg plus
Long runs - often 50mpg plus

Off the OBC I know, but unless I get a move on, thats what I get.

PS don't sit in traffic much 'cause of the hours I travel in

Its a C220cdi C coupe with some Millers in every tank
And of course, its very warm at the moment which makes a difference I believe

Can't really complain

And its in for a B service next week, so that could help further!

I think i am getting about 22 - 24 ish around the urban cycle
and about 30-34 on a run out of my S Class 320 W140.

Not too bad for a very large, heavy vehicle with a 3.2 petrol engine and 150,000 miles behind it, i think.

W210 - E240

Around 22/24 'local/urban' driving, 35 long distance runs.

Considered reasonable for a petrol 142000 miler:neutral:

REPLY TO SURVEYS POST. 48 mpg for a c220 cdi estate auto with 151,000k is very good considering our previous car was a 52 plate 170 cdi lwb manual a class which was returning 52 mpg on the very same journey! Your figure of 42 mpg was more what i was expecting for my c220, as for your mpg improving if its been the same (42 mpg) from new then you would expect it to get a little better, but please bear in mind your newer c220 is probably heavier and produces alot more horsepower than my 9 year old w202.

Besstus - My C220 has gradually improved at almost every fill up from 39mpg to 42mpg since I started checking at 500 miles. Hopefully this may continue. Previous diesels that I have owned have not really achieved their best until a considerable mileage has been done - 20-30K+

Anywhere between 18 and 29 mpg depending on fuel (LPG or petrol), roof up or roof down and how enthusiastic I feel.

Roof down, heavy right foor and running on LPG can get very thirsty, but nor too expensive. (LPG at 51p/litre).

Roof up, gentle cruising on petrol can return 20mpg, but if wanted to drive like that I wouldn't have bought an SL.

The current hot spell means I have been able to use a tank of fuel without having to put the roof up and I have found it costs a couple of miles to the gallon. Well worth it to feel the breeze in my beard.

2001 E430 to work and back 22mpg, 1500 miles france recently 27.5mpg, best ever 31.5mpg non stop 70mph very boring.

Wifes 2001 C320 between 1 and 2 mpg better than mine, doing the same trip.

Drops %15/20 in the winter.
