Just checked the oil in my 2005 C320CDi for first time since i've bought it, done 3k miles and it needs topping up a bit as at min on dipstick.

I can't get to mercedes as it's weekend so it'll have to be halfords. What type/brand of oil do Merc use for this engine or if not what do you guys use??

Cheers

What makes you think it had a DPF? It's possible, but very few UK Mercs have DPF's - if it has one there will be a warning label under the bonnet to use Low Ash oil.

When I follow the oil checker on castrols web page and put my reg in it comes up as a model with dpf. Same oil regardless by looks of it according to castrol

Look at the rear pipes, if there clean, then you have it, if theres soot on the tail pipes then you dont have one!

A dipstick! You've got a Mercedes with a dipstick?

Do you realise how privileged you are? Mercedes don't provide dipsticks for just anyone! :)

If you're burdened with a DPF, use Mobil 1 5W30 ESP, otherwise use Mobil 1 0W40 Supersyn or Mobil 1 0W40TD.

Most Halfrauds branches sell the Mobil range of oils for silly money.

Be careful, when I put my reg in, it gets it wrong. I've got a DPF and it recommends the wrong oil.
A DPF is option No.474 on the datacard stuck in the back of your service booklet.
