Does the 99' C280 V6 take....is it Bosch, NGK ect, and are they Iridium, platinum ect, thanks.

Btw...I know it's a barstward of a job being a TS as well, and here was thinking it was only Alpha that was a TS. I just got a price from a an Idie there...£172 to change them.., 2 hours lab inc the plugs..

It's ok...Iv'e just found out (from Euro part) there Bosch FR8DPP33's 12 of, and can have them all for £56.40 inc vat, only thing is fitting them, which seemingly is a complate c**t of a job.

But I could save myself £105 in lab, which could go to something else.

Btw....is this really so hard to do?....I mean ok it's time consuming but is that really it....

It cant be any trickier than getting into the plugs on my Exup, which took the best part of an hour inc a u/j, extension's (2 of) plus ratchet.

I think that care is needed to get the leads off without damage. some device that can lever them off is better than pulling, they are tight though, no problem in taking out the plugs with a short spanner

I take it you must be the garage I phoned today....I dear say it is a pig of a job, I would try it but the only thing really putting me off is that I dont have a manual and the only I can (seemingly) get is the w/shop dvd's which cover's the C class.

But then again, will I really need a manual to change plugs!....maybe i do on this car. Btw...I wouldn't give to much of your knowledge away on here...

Stu,
Ok, I'm not a mechanic by trade, but can swing a spanner with the best of them. I did the job on my E240, so bigger engine bay, more space and it was a xxxx (fill in with any 4 letter word you choose!). There is no room to swing the wrench and you are working blind most of the time. I would recommend taking the engine cover off if you do though. I didn't and it may have helped and I cracked it from leaning on it.

Also, 12 plugs for £56 sounds too cheap to me. I suspect they aren't platinum or Irridium and won't last as long. Given what a nasty job it is, you really do want the 60k out of them!. I paid over £100 for NGK irridium plugs alone (from www.psarkplugs.co.uk) and they weren't that much more expensive than the Bosch equivalent.

The leads are very tight but can be done by hand with a lot of effort. They are rather fragile though (and very expensive) so go easy.
Good luck.

jberks..........

The plugs I asked about above are from Euro and are Bosch FR8DPP33 I dont know if they are platinum, iridium ect maybe not at that price. I understand what you say about not putting "cheap" plugs in because of the scale of the job, I was expecting a higher price than that.

PS....your link doesn't work..
