What temperature?

WHat temp should my 280 run at? On the motorway it seems to sit a touch below 100 and in toen bang on 100. However when I got caught in a major traffic jam the other day it shot up into the red after sitting stand still for about 45 mins in temps outside of about 25-26 degrees. I switched the heaters on and it dropped instantly back down to 100.

Opinions please?

it should sit between 80 and 90 while moving in this weather, and shouldn't hit the red at all. Check your thermostat, or better still, fit a new one while you are at it. Check the coolant level and concentration, check the rad for blockages and check for airlocks in the system.
Check the fan for correct function, either viscous or electronic, check your drivebelts.
In short, have that cooling system looked at and pronto, or you'll risk blowing a gasket or doing some other serious damage.
