what the difference between a W114 and a W115 ???.

The previous owner of my Mercedes said it was a W115 chassis and engine but with a W114 body, but i was wondering if anybody could tell me the differences between the two models please, many thanks in advance.

w114 - 6 cyl engines
w115 -4 cyl engines.

the way to tell the diference is open the bonnet and follow the wing from the headlight to the radiator.
on 114it goes 'out' slightly (forwards) - on 115 it goes 'back' or in slightly
bonnets are the same, as is most of the chassis - look at the chassis number?

bit un economical to travel that far - the M110 was used in the 190e series quite a lot - go get one of these from a scrappy...

The chassis number on your reg document should match the chassis plate mounted by the radiator.

W114's and W115's are very similar however

w114's came fist, engines and transmission options are different.
they have big steering wheels with a chrome centre ring, 115's do not

w115's have integral door mirrors, w114's have one o/s door mirror bolted on the doorbehind the quater light glass.

w115's do not have quater lights in the front doors and have newer generation transmissions, head rests, can have alloy wheels as standard,
