dream job with a dream salary - nice work if you can get it.
As they say, thats just a fraction of what they actually recieve too.

Still they are genuinely the best of the best, (only 30 F1 seats in the world, with all the worlds drivers fighting over them) and where a few tenths of seconds on a 3 mile lap, in the rain can be the difference between winning or losing your job. Talk about pressure!

Compare them to footballers where there are loads of available places by comparison. Also F1 drivers need to be intelligent as well as athletes in order to understand the complexities of the car, strategies, handling, tyres etc etc.
Truly shows footballers up for the overpaid thick lumps of useless !"$& that they are.
(When was the last time an F1 driver was even in trouble, let alone jailed!)

According to that article

Newly crowned world champion Jenson Button earned 'just' £3.05m after taking a 50 per cent pay cut to drive for Brawn in 2009.:shock::shock:

Perhaps we should have a whip round for him

Damon Hill up in front of the beak

for speeding on the m40 in 1996. He got off lightly though.

Let's not forget the consequences of getting it badly wrong.

a) dead.
b) severe injury
c) survive relatively unsctahed, but don't get much more work.

If I faced those kinds of risks in my day job, I'd want about 10 times as much as I get now.

Frankly, I'm surprised we ever get anyone to join the services on what we pay them for the risks they have to face.

I asked that very question here a couple of months ago, it would appear Bertrand Gachot is the answer, for murder!!, but last year jos verstappen nearlly managed to go to prison for wife beating (allegedly):?:

What we earn v what we are paid

This may just be further evidence of my pedantry, but I believe that there is a distinction to be drawn between what a person earns (what they are worth) and what they are paid (what they are given).

Everything seems to be in proportion at the lower end of the scale, but once you get into 6 figure amounts (Auto-cuties on TV, bankers, pop stars, footballers, F1 Drivers), there does seem to be a disconnect.

Discuss.

He drove pretty well yesterday, he could have just cruised around but he did put on a bit of a show even if he couldn't get the overtaking right on Dick Dastardly

Even hamilton seems to be in the doldrums this season, ' tho i personally think this was most intentional as they wanted to keep well clear of their past sins...
Whatr surprises me is the fact that honda couldnt win an argument with this team and then they pull out and brawn takes over with a lot less money and wins everything in sight... normally only happens in the movies..

Agreed - and in the case of F1 drivers the highest paid are usually those with the shortest working day...... ;)
