A friend has died recently leaving a 300 CE to be sold. It's basically a very smart car and carries a JSF 'personal' plate. It's been dry stored for twelve years so could I suppose be considered a barn find?? Would there be much interest in the car as found? The owner's widow would like to see it go to a good home. Attached are a couple of photos taken when last on the road.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Agree with BC on that one, an ideal car for Derek Mattewsons Classic Car Auctions in Thornton Le-Dale :)

Hi and welcome. Much will depend on its current state and what was done to prepare it for being laid up.

You don't mention where in the country you are? It may be someone here could be interested.

They have a good following but are very underpriced comapred to the estates/convertibles (basically the same price as the saloon). It will certainly be worth something and they're on the up. I assume you're friend would not be interested/does not have contacts in shipping, a nice one here is about 7-8k€ and I'm looking for a project to do up and that, from the limited photos looks great bodywork/interior wise (atleast if it's still in that condition now)...

I wouldn’t be interested personally but Louth isn’t too far from me so if anyone here is interested I don’t mind taking a look if that’s okay with the OP

No contacts in shipping I'm afraid. Cosmetic condition does not seem to have suffered during its lay-up. It's in a dark dry building. I will make a better inspection and take photos at the weekend.

I'll never get to grips with these forums. Last week I (thought I had) posted several pictures and a condition report, but there's nothing here! Maybe I tried to overload the system?
I've looked over the car and apart from dust on the outside it's really quite good. Bootwell is like new, underneath there's a little surface rust on nuts and bolts which was probably there before the car was stored. Peering underneath, the body and exhaust look sound. The only blemish I found on the paint is where the aerial exits the rear wing. Inside is good too. Leather upholstery is clean. Doors, boot and bonnet open and close nicely. There are no pools of fluid underneath and the coolant is still topped-up. Battery was removed long ago so no corrosion in that area. Tyres still have air and wheels are free to turn. It's on wrong wheels but the originals are present. Last tax disc expired Feb. 2008. Mileage is 97000. Pictures are in someone else's camera so I will post them - with more diligence - at the weekend when I visit.

Hi , great photos, it looks to be in really good condition and was clearly well looked after, even so to achieve proper money it needs to be running and driving and ideally with an mot, otherwise its just too much of an unknown quantity and I fear you may be disappointed in the offers you receive.

2 options, sell it as is as an unknown quantity - I’d still recommend Mathewson’s
Or get it to an MB specialist who will get it back to running condition, this will no doubt cost a good few £k and you‘d most likely not get it back at sale time.

Looking at the pictures, lots of suspension bushes will require replacement as well as the brakes, discs, pads and probably calliper seals and possibly master cylinder seals. Engine and fuel system will require a good going over with all belts and fluids requiring changing
Looks like a great project if you have space, a lift and plenty of time

Yes, I realise that there's work to do and there's no time to do it in or of course the money to fund it. The present owner needs to sell so it's open to offers over £1000. Anyone wishing to privately discuss the matter may call me on 07479 206078, evenings are best, signal can be dodgy so persevere!
