Hopefully this question is going to cause some interest and debate. What do you consider to be the best merc. (overall) that you have ever personally owned, and your reasons?

To start the ball rolling, my personal favourite was a 114 series 250/8 1971 model sedan, my reason? 390,000 trouble free miles, all of them clocked up in Central Africa, not known for good roads and readily available service facilities.

92K 500SL. Blue Black / Mushroom, 8 holes. That car felt worth the lofty price. Other end of the scale, for the money 124 estates are hard to beat and I'm on my second :)

The build quality of the 123 got me hooked, then driving the 124 won me over, they 129 was fantastic, and the 230 even better, so it never stops really

A 1990 190E which had something like 170k when I sold it and the seat felt like new and was solid as a rock. Amazing car and the guy I sold it to still has it and done over 200k now.

Although I think my R129 SL is pretty damn good as well :)

In terms of value for money the W123 200T I bought on eBay by 'mistake' (was hoping to be outbid) for 250 and sold 8 months later for twice that amount. Not because of the financial transaction but because despite its terrible condition it was such a nice car to drive.

Having had a number of new W211's and W203 estate's both as company cars and private purchases ,not to mention a couple of w201's a few years ago,i purchased a 300E sportline saloon (checked seats and only two individual seats in the back) about three months ago to tide us over until the insurance paid out on our 220cdi estate which got burnt out and even though it is nice to have the newer cars -just because they have the "new car" factor about them i can honestly say the sportline really has a really "special car" feel about it which the others did not have

I absolutly love it and cant see me ever selling it.
