Not a Benz but my Nissan Maxima has really nice leather seats, door trims etc and I've noticed after 12 years, that there are some signs of wear and tear. What is best restorer product I should use?

Clean it well, then you can get restorative gel paint

Artico is not leather, it is usually a cost option...

Gliptone all the way. First a clean with the cleaner and using a soft nail brush to gently agitate and get in the leather grooves, then a hit with the conditioner. I do this twice a year, you will not be disappointed with the results of dull looking leather (how it should be) and the smell is great.

Let us know how you get on!

Are you sure? I thought artico was the base level and leather was the cost option.
On E’s the base “SE” spec comes with real leather, AMG Line comes with plastic artico. Nappy leather is usually a ££££ option on any

Interesting. Our R has Artico/Dinamica which I always believed was the standard offering.

Gliptone is pretty good, here in UK I use Dr Leather which I have found to be better, but maye not available there.

Worth checking if seats are sealed, I would imagine the probably were at that age but maybe nt now, try a drop of water on seat, if it sits on top of seat then leather is coated. If this is the case then generally it is better not to use a conditioner as well, as this will sit on top of sealant and not penetrate leather.

i didn’t get on with a Gliptone.

Colour lock is what I use - they are the market leader in leather cleaners, protectants, dye, repairs etc. https://www.colourlock.com/
I use leather shield but they also have products for imitation leather.

I use their mild leather cleaner with a brush (the strong one is for really soiled leather) and then shield to protect.

Another good combo is Dodojuice Supernatural.

After doing your steering wheel with these, trust me, it will feel like a brand new wheel with that soft new leather feel.

Colourlock is what a lot of professionals use also.

True. I think all modern leather is clear coated so conditioners are pointless. A good sealant like colourlock has always kept my leather like new.

....

Depends what the original purchaser ordered.
I know .... it seems that almost everything that most people might want or expect in a Merc is a factory option or part of an option pack.

The Artico in my ML was the standard base seat material. Leather was an option but I chose the base material as it was to be a workhorse rather than a city runabout - 100.000km towing a van over all sorts of country. Has retired now to city living :)
I have bought some leather conditioner cream and applied to front seats and dash of Nissan. Seems to have been absorbed fairly well. Polished off remnants. Only a couple of wear areas where my bum slides in and out on seat but not too bad really. Was just looking to try to preserve it as well as I could. I'll see how it goes. Thanks for all thoughts.

Ian.
