S class
Austin A40. With the quarter light open, if you steered fast, it hit your knuckles.:(

It was neither a car nor a hatchback, but had the 'hatchback' look.

'Our lot' bought a fleet of them. One day someone peeled back the floor carpet on one of them [for some reason] and chalked on the floor pan were the words, 'FOR EXPORT ONLY'. Obviously, that particular vehicle had failed the QC's evaluation. Although, to be fair, I'm surprised that any actually 'passed'.
Just goes to show their thinking when they had 'Worcestershire' down as a foreign country

first to fit electronic ABS as STANDARD to a general production car?

Possibly, but mechanical ABS was fitted to the Jenson Interceptor in 1966, an idea taken from aviation in use since the 1940's.

I know (Maxaret) .... hence me including electronic in my reply ;) And Merc's S Class was the first car to have electronic ABS as an option in the early 80s :)

The answer to the question asked is:
All of the 'horseless carriages' of the late 19th Century. ;)

MK3 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6L.Technically OK but like driving / piloting a fridge.

I have to say that around 91/92, something like that I had a 2.0 16v GL Cavalier and I thought it was quite a good car. :) Most certainly a whole lot better than the car that replaced it, the dreaded Vectra. :( The Cavalier actually handled quite well until all of that was destroyed with the Vectra

I had a 1990 H reg and like you thought it was OK. Didn't handle or ride as well as the Citroen BX I'd had previously but did feel well put together and like a reasonable quality but of kit.

On the positive side it wasn't so complex as the BX

Well, you are entitled to your opinion ;), obviously I disagree strongly with your nomination
I've have had shi*****ds of cars both old an new, including lots that are now considered "classics", my ML is easily one of the best cars I've owned :p.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
Since when was this thread about defending sh*t cars.

Any one can say that any of the cars mentioned in this thread
is/was the best car they ever owned in their opinion.

Don't take it so personally.

:D

I'll throw the Vauxhaul Viva HA in, it looked and drove like crap.

Austin Metro, Maestro and Montego had all 3 but not at the same time! Things kept breaking, falling off or both!

They were truly awful!

There was one still on the road local to me the other year. It looked like it'd been painted with a yard brush .... :D
It was probably just thick paint with no metal underneath!
