I've been poking around the engine bay cleaning out the water drains and came across the wire/plug tucked into the NR drain
I'm not sure where it should go
Any ideas?

I don't know what it is, but from experience I've seen a lot of connectors on cars that actually have no purpose, IE they use the same loom for a model range and depending no the model that part of the loom may or may not work, much like the fuse box for example.

Now I could be talking a load of old cobblers in this case, but, if everything is working then I wouldn't worry about it :)

If it is I want one!

I've also often found connectors like that down near the headlights in previous cars, but needless to say, all the lights worked!

I think it's for the Q-Branch revolving number plates.

(Sorry - I have nothing serious to add.)

Wiring looms tend to be relatively generic across a particular model range or at least a derivative type, due to being a supplier part, along with the need to simplify logistics and manufacturing processes.

There are probably more unused connections tucked away.
