I've just taken delivery of my first Merc (CLK). It's been back to the dealer twice in 3 weeks and will have to go in again. Is this the experience of others or is my dealer (NW Kent) rubbish?

It also pulls slightly to the left. The Mercedes mechanic tells me this is for safety reasons and also applies to other models. Is he pulling my leg? Any comments appreciated.

Hello Martin
Sorry to hear the experience with your car has been disappointing.
May I advise you speak with the Service manager about your disapointment so far?

With regard to your steering pull, it is not uncommon for vehicles with large tyre profiles to follow the camber of the road. The easy way to prove this is when safe drive on the wrong side of a road that has a visible camber and you will notice that the car drifts to the right. If however you feel that your vehicle is requiring undue effort to keep it in line then ask your dealership to carry out a 4-wheel alignment and ask for a print out of the results. I personally have carried out many alignments for this customer concern and very rarely do I find the specification to be out. Unfortunately the roads in the U.K in general are in an appalling condition and this does contribute significantly to the amount of customer who complain about steering pulls Tram lining etc.
I hope you get satisfaction with your dealer if not try another, were not all bad. Some of us are very proud of our reputation for delivering the best.

Pulling left

I Had the same problem on my new C240 (2000)

They have just fixed the problem. They gave me many many excuses. All rubbish.

I even had an RAC report. I have been fighting Mercedes for 2 years. The support has been crap.

At last the problem is fixed. Tell your people to speak with Barry Gambrill, DaimlerChrysler Milton Keynes.

I have his phone number if you need it. He has fixed the same problem on other cars.
