Have a look on Autodoc, they'll be loads available. I imagine SKF, Moog, FAG are good amongst others.

there are others cheaper but would want to know maker of bearings first. Great motor that 230ge had that and 280/300gd. 230 best. Just enough power simple easy engine. Unbeatable 4x4. Took 230 to Kenya, ran near 14 yr and sold in front. I would sell my ml250 for a good one..

Frankly in most cases going to Benz for pts is nuts, on the odd occasion one can get a decent deal. Batts, disc's ect,

Not cheap but ..... getting on for 10 years ago I paid £100 for a wheel bearing for my Vauxhall Omega from the dealers and then paid a local garage to fit it. At the time, the consensus of opinion of the forum was that I'd paid way over the odds & should've bought far cheaper else where. Mine lasted years whereas theirs didn't!:rolleyes:

ie Don't buy too cheap. ;)

you get what you pay for and then theres getting stitched up:(. If I get three options in parts I always pick the middle price if the third one is outside my budget and I dont recognise a favoured brand name:D

If you do without the car take the bearing off and quote the bearing number on Ebay.
Only buy known brands, SKF FAG etc.

And watch out for fakes... if it’s too cheap there’s a reason for it

As far as I know makers Benz, Vauxhall ect don't make bearings, likely a SKF, fag ntn bearing with dealer mark up. I am aware of car makers organizing bearings to be 1mmm or 0.5 mm different on I/D just to screw up our days and wallets.

Agreed, but if you get from a dealer you know it's a proper bearing & not some cheap copy in a counterfeit box. When I bought my Omega wheel bearing (it wasn't actually a separate bearing .. it was part & parcel of the hub) another Omega owner bought a hub from elsewhere. A few thousand miles later he was in France with a failed wheel bearing & le French garage would only replace both sides. ;) My wheel bearing was still as new :)

The propshaft support bearing on my Senator was an odd ball sized bearing that wasn't available from anywhere other than a Vauxhall dealer

You could not even guess the number of fake bearings I see in west Africa,to an extent same in Europe, eBay for example with iffy supply details. I try to go to SKF when I can. I do use bearing boys in UK for bearings for ride on running gear, but they are shot in 2 yr as are pretty much all others, wet grass screws them but so cheap I don't care.
I will only buy a dealer bearing when no choice exists.
