I'd replace with a used one that's likely to be far better. Is that really on a 2012 car?

I'd be inclined to replace that stub axle.
If it pushes the bearing off square it will accelerate wear on the replacement.

If you have to get back on the road and already have the bearing but can't source a stub axle quickly then making good with a fine file set (flat and curved) is an option even if not preferred.

Now that you've got you car back on the road, don't forget to look for a new stub axle so that you can replace it at your convenience rather when it fails again.

Can anyone answer a simple question.
Do you use a adjustable wrench to tighten up the colour or as a have seen on you tube just finger tight the colour before you lock it with the 5mm allen key bolt.
To set the pre load on the wheel bearing.
Some say rule of thumb is to nip it right up so the hub won't turn then back off a 1/4 or 1/8 of a turn but is that over tightening of the wheel bearing.
Thanks

Put wheel on tighten bearing nut until no play when you rock the wheel top to bottom. Loose the nut back, until you Just feel play. Tighten Allen bolt.
Important, repack bearings with fresh grease first
You will be grand. Find used stub and replace.
