Evening all,

Out in the c63 today doing family duties. Coming home, lost the back end on a simple enough roundabout going over a fairly large pothole and then some black sludgy looking s!@# towards the inside of the roundabout which resulted in my rear O/S hitting the kurb ("fairly" slowish speed, maybe 25/30mph tops -rear ends almost overtaking me at this point).

Is this a straight suck it up and get the new wheels that I've wanted since I bought it or would any local service be liable for poor roundabout/road conditions?

Regards,

Chris.

Scrap, even on a mobility scooter let alone a C63. Did you get the damaged originals from the previous owner? If not, buy what you really want with decent tyres for the summer and get a good Mercedes set with winter tyres.

Lucky you didnt blow the tyre out.
Nows the time to get those new bloks you have been dreaming about.

Did you take pics of the scene if you want claim against the council and inform the police. If not, is it worth the hassle if you want to change all corners anyway.

Skidding on a roundabout is not common. But this time of year all black sludge you mention builds up from leaves etc

As above, being in the trade, we'd not even attempt to repair that. A new wheel is needed, sadly/fortunately how ever you want to look at it.

I also understand from those who have been successful in claiming for such damages, have had dash cam evidence (of them hitting the area), further supported by photos taken at the scene of the pot hole itself, along with something to provide good indication of depth/diameter etc. I understand this is required to 'prove you hit that pot hole and the state of it as well as any vehicle damage at the time.'

I wouldn't like your chances of a successful claim to be honest. The argument they will use is that if the car was sliding sideways that much you weren't driving to the conditions present.

Chalk one up to experience and move on.
