Please excuse the rant but im a little fed up.
Purchased a 2015 E class estate last September from a Mercedes main dealer.
This was an ex demo and used by one of their employees.

I went over the car with a fine tooth comb or so i thought.

I have noticed that 2 of the wheels have a white substance showing through, obviously where the wheels have been damaged and a poor repair done.
This was definately not showing when i purchased the car.

Only had the car 9 months and love it but feel a little peaved with what amounts to a poor cover up on a quality car by a main dealer.

Any one else experience this.
Regards

Hello and welcome

The white is corroded aluminium and can happen at any time. Tiny stone chips can allow water in which corrodes the aluminium. It has probably happened since you bought it with stone chips.

As a question how do you clean the wheels? Some of the hand car wash places use high strength acid which can speed up wheel corrosion.

You could ask your supplying dealer if they’ll repair but I wouldn’t have too high hopes...

I do get it cleaned at a local car wash.

The white substance looks solid as if its a paste thats been used to fill a chip and where the previous owner scraped the wheel.
Its not powdery which i would assume corroded alluminium would look like.

Thanks for the reply

It probably is filler from a previous repair :(

You could ask the dealer, no harm in asking...:D

White filler definitely a repair. That will show up even more if it’s been dine against diamond cut!
Fairly typical of any dealer, Mercedes are not alone....

Gents thanks for the advice.
To cut a very long story short, the main dealer, lookers mercedes canterbury, did refurb one of the wheels.

They did try fobbing me off but i had already spoken to someone who told me it was a bad smart repair.

Just got the car back, not cleaned but hey small victories.
Got to find someone to do the other wheel now.
