Hi. I’ve got 19” on my car at the moment. Had one wheel which cracked about 9 months ago, had it repaired once and lasted for about 6 months. Then it cracked from same place and had it welded again twice but still leaks air. I’ve given up on that wheel now and I’m thinking to get a new set of wheels as it’s difficult to get one wheel at a decent price that matches and then sell my old set.

I’m thinking of getting 18” as tire prices are slightly cheaper. I’ve seen a set of aftermarket ones from Wheelbase alloys. Decent price - I just wanted to know if anyone from here recommends. https://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/romac/venom/gun-metal-polished/18-inch-wider-rear

These come to about £590 fitted without tyres. I would put on the recommended tyres for my vehicle which are 235/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear

My other option is to get a set of genuine used ones. I have seen a few sets that come with 225/45/18 and 245/40/18 tyres off C-class. I’d get the tires changed to match, but just wanted to know if there would be any issues with these wheels on an E-class?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good idea to reduce the alloy size down to 18" if you keep cracking the 19" OEM ones.
Just ensure that the replacement ones have the correct ET (offset) which for your car with 18"'s should be
Fronts ET45, Rears ET48.
Obviously the bolt pattern needs to be Mercedes fitment 5x112PDC. Check whether you need new bolts as well. The new alloys may need tapered shanks, not radius

I have 18" on my 212 E350CDI, & 17" winter wheels. I much prefer the 17" wheels.
I have done the same on the wife SLC, down to 17" & all season tyres.

Why not just buy the wheels and tyres from wheelbase , and be done with it . Buy now pay in 6 option .

I ran my e350 on 18's 235 40 18 all round . Cross Climates all season. Not a bit of bother . I just sold them last month for £400 , Shame you weren't asking then.

£400 is damn cheap for a set with cross climates! I’ve not come across any set of wheels that are not cracked or repaired for a decent price.
I'm planning to go ahead with the 18” wheels from wheelbase.
I’m going to sell my old set of 19s and put a thread in the buy/sell section if anyone’s interested.
Thanks for the advice guys.

590 pound for a set of 4 sounds like a great deal to me and have to say - they look very nice to boot!

I am only geussing but if they fit your vehicle then the only problems you will have is with your speedometer. Going to a smaller diameter will throw your speedo out. In other words, it will read faster than what you are travelling or slower - I can't remember which sorry. Bottom line though, you'll probably have to get your speedometer re calibrated for the change of wheel size.

He already said he'd change tyre sizes to match the Speedo .

Hmm - all he said was he'd change the tire size to match ... I took that to mean match the new rim size.

The correct tyre to match the rim size and to match the Speedo. Recommended tyres to suit his vehicle.

About 4 years ago I bought off eBay fixed price sale a set of one year old Mercedes 17" wheels & all season tyres for £440 delivered. The tyres were Nokian with 6mm of tread on them.
Took about 3 months of looking, but the deals are out there.
