Where is my Engine Number

First post, new member.

I have a 1976 280CE W123 and I have no idea where the engine number is. Can anyone help me, please?

I am about to sell this one for spares or repair and need to know where the engine number is for the DVLA inspection to remove my plate.

Any help would be much appreciated

Front of block, left side (of car), facing up. They are often covered in grime and very feint, on the 110 motors. I can tell you it starts with 110 984!!!!
