evap temp sensor

OK

It's the same on both cars, remove the radio and center console and the temp sansor is cliped into the heater box in this area, the usual symptom of this failing is it all works well to start with and then after 10-15 mins driving air flow is reduced to allmost nothing due to the evaporator becoming a solid block of ice, Its about 45 mins work to replace and test

thanks for that - but my symptoms not quite the same on my 124 :
I have checked that the compressor engages when I first switch aircon on with engine running however it keeps dropping in and out say every couple of minutes or so - result air is only lightly chilled. Does this sound like the evap temp sensor or something else? Have also checked that fluid is present without bubbles and looks fine. ambient temp only 13C at present btw.

I had aircon trouble on w210. Problem was the condenser rasdiator, located behind the passenger side suspension strut under a removable cover. Those condenser radiators are a known problem, they all end up leaking and a/c goes awol. You can hear the compressor trying to compress non existent refrigerant. You should check it out because it costs to regas it and the regassing will just leak again. Its not really a great a/c system, struggles to keep temperatures down in hot weather [as in 40C in France].
