Remember when i joined here last week (i know, it feels like a lifetime with my constant wittering!) and was saying that i'd done the Stuttgart factory tour back in 96.

Well, my first time in a merc thereafter (other than being when i was very young!) that was in Germany in a W124 saloon, approx a year old and the lad driving got it to around 200 kmh - which i thought was quick - '200' definately looked quick on the needle!

Anyway, i really like that old model - sort of mid 90's Coupe or saloon - but they seem very hard to get hold of on autotrader.co.uk.

Any thoughts??

Search ebay...you get a much more accurate description of the car you're looking at. Have fun !

I would also recommend Ebay ( its where I bought mine!) but do do do go and look first, these W124's are all at an age where photos can flatter! Also keep an eye out on Pistonheads classifieds.

Good luck!

There are plenty of UK sources for W124s. European cars are 30%-odd more expensive than they used to be, thanks to sliding Sterling, so I'd look in the UK

If your budget is small, look on eBay and Autotrader. If it's more generous, look at established UK W124 specialists. They will be able to supply a fully prepared car. You'll find most of them via Google

If you are interested in auctions, one I sometimes attend is near you and the Mercedes they offer are worth a look. I attach a link to the results of a recent sale.

Future sales are well set out at the H&H website, with comprehensive descriptions and reserves - although it may have been written by an estate agent?
