Should I ever be attacked by a high kerb etc, & damage an 8 hole alloy.
(195/65 15)

Is, or they worth getting repaired, or is it better to replace for new one?

If better to buy new, does anyone know where to get a better deal on em, rather than paying a fortune at the dealer.

Please note:
Have made enquiries to 2 local large breakers yards who said all mercs are shipped abroad!

Do other makes (BMW Ovlov etc.) wheels fit Mercs at all?

Thanks for any info / help.

Keith.

you need to either have a look

in the handbook, or whip a wheel off, and check the back for the following info.
Width = this is stated as 6J or 6.5J or 7J and so on
Diameter= 15 or 16 or 17, as you have already found
ET or Offset= ET 37 or 49 or 25
This is probably the critcal dimension, as the others can be varied quite a bit without disastrous consequences, the ET can't. It measures how far from the hub the wheel sticks out , or in, and really dictates whether or not a wheel will fit safely on your car. It is linked to the width of the wheel though, as you increase the width, the ET has to come down a bit to keep the wheel away from the supension.(mercs are usually "inboard" wheels, with a positive ET)
If I ever find a nice set of Mexican Hats or AMG pentas for my SL, there will be 4 7Jx15xET25 8 holers in mint condition for offer.

If they are genuine MB 8hole wheels, they should be: 6.5J x 15 H 2 ET 44*. The ET no of other MBs will be different (IE Cclass 8 hole ET 37....wheel will be sticking out 7mm more).

*The ET # for 6.5" wheels varies with wheel style. IE 15 holes are 48mm

in the ball park Tom

except these have chamfered shoulders for the bolts. Mercs need a radius seat shoulder and bolt. typical e-bayer, doesn't put the ET offset number on.
Bit pricy though but I suppose they are with tyres.
As a rule BMW/VW/Audi/late Skoda all have the same pcd of 5/112 as Merc, but much attention to offset and shoulder radius must be paid to avoid getting somthing you can't use.
incidentally, mine is wearing a set of 8-hole just like the green 124 in the picture before your post.

thanks Mike

I've used Mercmen lots of times, very happy with them.I'm in no rush, so I'll find some somewhere at the right price. I wish the previous owner hadn't disposed of the mexican hats and the pentas the car had accrued over the years.
I take it you're not smoking today
