Hi Everyone! The rachet on my parking brake has stopped making its usual noise but, funny enough, the parking brake is still working.
does this matter and if so would I be able to fix it or is it a visit to a workshop necessary? The car is a C220 2002. thanks Janice321

It doesnt make the slightest difference to the parking brake operation at all. its just there for audio sound while you move the pedal.

It you dont mind not having a click then dont worry about it at all.

If you prefer, the two plastic parts you need, a pin and semi-curciluar ratchet, are pennys for any mb parts store.

I thought they changed the part and the part number because they break.

Following on from the above I went and had a look in the footwell (it a'nt half dark down there!) and it seemed that the plastic ratchet had come off the pin. Placed it back on and the ratchet is working again! So a big thanks to Ellsy Tanners, jibcl 500 and Television for giving me the confidence to have a look!
