I drive a 1984 300D (W123) and the autobox level is now just below minimum.
After looking in the Haynes manual I discovered the correct fluid is:
Automatic Transmission Fluid "Type F"

I don't know if this stuff is still available because I haven't seen it anywhere. Has the specification moved on?
I went on 3 websites of popular oil companies and their recommendation was:

Comma oils: Use Comma AQM (meets Dexron2)

Castrol: Use Castrol TQD

Opie oils: Use Fuchs Titan ATF 3000 Dexron2 ATF (meets MB236.1 and 236.2)

None of them mention "Type F"

What would you guys recommend i put into my transmission?
If nobody knows I'll go for the Fuchs Titan because you can pick it up at German & Swedish for £5 a bottle.
Many thanks!

A 1984 car is quite late and should use the 722,405 box and these fluids
