a high mileage W210 E220 CDI, fsh, 140K (£5950) or
a lower mileage W202 E250TD, fsh, 113k (£3500) or
a W124 E220, fsh, 112k (£3000)

if you ignore purchase cost which of these is most likely to remain most reliable and offer decent running costs (15k miles a year).

Hi

If it was me i would go for the 250 C class. Apart from o rings on fuel lines feck all to go wrong if it has been looked after up to now.

All quite different so not that easy to compare. The 210 will have the best economy and look the newest. The 202 will be the smallest and will run on bio fuels, the 124 is a 124.

C-classes are boring, and if you buy the CDi you'll look like a London mincab.

I may be slightly biased towards the 124 though. :)

They are all totally different, will all do another 100k and be fairly reliable getting there. The 124 is a 2 door, the C a bit small for some and the E too big for others. We all like what we run so I'd say the E (provided there is no rust). It is the most comfortable and roomy but to be fair, this is a decision for your heart and wallet.
So, which do YOU like the best?

The C-class will run on veg oil and has proved to be extremely reliable.

The CDI is an outstanding engine but that body is prone to rust and rust and rust.

The E220 coupe is a w124 and is probably one of the best built, best engineered, best looking car you will ever find.

Up to you my son! :)

Nick,

Sadly the E220 for £3k has been sold which is REALLY annoying:-x, the C250 TD actually looks like a really clean car with full history, 2 owners etc so looks like I'm goning to plump for that. HOWEVER, if I can source a late 95 E220 or maybe E200 with <100k miles, and a full service history then I could change my mind. To be honest the bulletproofness (if such a word exists) of the W124 tempts me more than another C class but its getting the right one with history, no rust thats been care for is the hard part.

Hi

Seeing as you have a C class already you will know a good one when you drive it. Good luck with your choice.

On the economy side a relation of mine has a C250TD and from listening to him i wouldnt expect fantastic economy possibly 5mpg more than the 200 i would guess.

from those car and prices, i would definately go for the w124,
great cars.
