My w203 was leaking fuel from the hoses attached in the picture, I went to my Indy and he didn't have MB fuel hoses in stock but had BMW fuel hoses of the right diameter and all was well, when I discussed it with my dealer he looked at the hoses changed and said no don't use these and sold me their own fuel hoses though not from EPC as it only shows the whole fuel line not that small piece. they said any other fuel hose will detoriate and clog and whole system, which hose would be used.

this left one claimed by my Indy to be the BMW fuel hose (can't verify) but it does look like what the car already had before

the hose sold by MB dealer which has a thinner exterior and different texture, checking online I don't see this hose as fuel hose anywhere on w203s, only on pre 1980 Mercs w123 and old SLs.

The hose with the longitudinal ribs has marking on it to suggest that it’s made primarily of Viton(r)
Viton is perfectly fine for fuels, and is particularly effective for bio fuels such as bio diesel and bio ethanol- whereas the traditional NBR hoses (nitrile butadiene) have had issues with the estrerfication process of the ‘veg’ oils used to make bio diesel.
Cutting a long story short unless it’s incorrectly marked, that hose will do the job nicely- it’s marked FPM

I would say so- the unmarked one is of dubious origin potentially and unless you have the rubber laboratory tested there is no clear way of telling what it is!

thanks so much that clears it, also one more question, last time I changed the hose and also did the fuel filter when I restarted the car after the job I forgot to leave the key in the on position to build up fuel pressure, eventually it cranked and started though for the first 15 seconds it idled very rough like it had a misfire then on restarting it was back to normal again, no check engine light ever came on, I scanned it later and it showed cylinder one misfire stored code that was probably due to insufficent fuel pressure after the fuel filter change right? afterwards it has been perfectly smooth and powerful. I never had a misfire code on any other car after a fuel filter change then again I did leave the key on for few seconds on those.

Now, that is an answer that I would trust,.

He is a hose expert after all :).
