Which Oil for my W211 E320cdi

Due for oil change on my trusty E320. Can I use 5w- 30 synthetic Texaco Halvoline. Handbook not much use

A fully synthetic oil is best like Mobil 1 or Castrol edge sport. Look for the numbers 229.5 or 299.51 on the can.

Quick question black c55,i've got the w211 e320cdi currently done 120k,its an 03plate due for oil change,what would be the right oil for that sort of mileage? and how do i reset the clock as it shows 1000 miles to service after i change the oil,cheers :)

ASDA have some good deals on Castrol Edge, about £30 for 4 litres

My W211 E320 really ran very, very smoothly on the Castrol edge oil.. It actually ran better on the Castrol than it dod on whatever MB used !!

On a slighltly different subject my B 180 Cdi runs far smoother on Millers oil than it does on the MB stuff..
I have always loved the Millers oil for diesels..:D

Will be in your owners guide. Any oil that meets 229.31 or 229.51 is for cars with DPF.

Its just some are 0w and some are 5w but none seem to say low ash so I was getting a little confused?

Looks like 5W30W is what yoyu are looking for, something with a wider range (ie 0-30 or 5-40) will help in either very cold(former) or hot(latter) weather

But for the UK, you should be fine with 5-30.
