Which Oil?

I have a 2003 Sprinter (2.7) which has done about 44k. The sump is currently filled with 0W-30 fully synthetic Mobil oil done at the lasts service about 1000 miles back. Later this year it will go to N Africa where ambient temperatures will be about 30deg C during the day.

Should I change the oil?

In terms of what the handbook says 0w-30 is OK from below -25 deg to above 30deg. I don't know whether I should go for 5w-40.

Thanks for reading.

which oil

Hi i would be inclined to go up a grade as you suggested, very hot and dusty ,might take a spare air filter as well may get blocked! only my thoughts though! is it a short trip or longer! will the van be working hard, loaded? another good reason to go up an oil grade!

Not really familiar with your vehicle but if it has a viscous coupled fan make sure the coupling is in tip top condition and clean. If you don't have an auxilliary cooling electric fan at the front of the radiator you might want to think of fitting one?
