Which pads? Anyone tried Textar E-pads?

Looking for new pads on the CLS. Was going to opt possibly for Pagid (also considering Textar, Bosch), but noticed there is a Textar E-pad...anyone know if it is worth the money?

There is a cheap pad also on ECP, Eicher - I am assuming, worth avoiding this one?

Thanks

The E pad is a dust free type like those from ECB price about the same as the ECB green.

Simon liked the E pad and the ECB pads

Pagid are good pads, anything from TMD Friction is good, apart from Mintex really, only run them on a smaller run around if you really choose to, they can fade and be noisy.

Eicher are pants, avoid them.

Textar are one grade up from Pagid, and as said Pagid are fine.

If you want the best though, go with Jurid or ATE, I choose ATE for the 55.

EBC are also ok, but IMHO not as good as ATE for the similar price.

I have seen some older threads on this. But wanted something current. Don't think these epads have been out for a long time so extended use may have given more opinions. Sorry if this thread bores you. You didn't have to open and read it!!!

Did you look at the previous thread about the e-pad in the BRAKES section where this thread should be?

Ahaaa. Probably where I read about the Textar pads then!

At the time the thread was active the E pads were not available for all Mercedes models, I used EBC as I have used them for 12 years or more and the E pads were not made for my 216.

There will always be some that take a delight in spoiling a thread, shame really it stops discussion

Used to have a C63...
I recall using EBC Greenstuff pads many moons ago, but changed cars shortly after, so got no real experience (that I can recall, anyway!)

I've used green and red in previous cars that had brembo callipers / braking systems, and they turned out to be good.

But when you are spending £120+ for one axle, I always consider ATE, I went with them this time as Jurid were not available at the time and ATE are very very good pads IMHO, and only a two day order.

I just use middle of the range pads. After you fit you forget all about them anyway till next time.

I wonder if anyone anywhere has done a comparitive test on brake pads.
There does seem to be a gap in the market for real testing of car stuff.
Although the marketing departments for the lower scoring pads would probably say they have changed them since they were tested.

Older Citroen Now :-(
Simon does indeed rate the Textar E Pad very highly indeed.
They are very expensive but superb in every way.
I shall be renewing my pads very soon with E Pads..
My only problem is that for my car they are only available for the front ..

Is there any other difference aside from the lack of dust?
