Tyres

A friend who owns a tyre garage and has a merc always fits Goodyears, he knows the best brands and has open choce.
One of the guys who works there swears by BARUM brand, highly rated by Autoexpress magazine as good value with quality. Personally I fit Dunlop SPs to all my motors, currently a CLC220.

I fitted Goodyear F1's, they had more grip than any other tyre I've tried but my god, the wear rate was horrendous. Not a very long lasting tyre on a Mercedes.

I think tyres are incredibly subjective things ....some spend hundreds on a brand and they dont meet expectations ..others spend not a lot and are delighted....

I guess it all depends what car they are , how you drive and the typical driving conditions you meet as yu drive...

Very much depends on what your driving requirements mainly are.

On mine I'm looking for good wet grip, fuel efficient and very long lasting as I do over 30k miles a year

The car has done 22k on the summers I bought it with Goodyear efficient grip ( which were on it before the dealer got it, they stuck Avon zv5 on to replace the rears.

The avons I moved to the front after just 12k miles on the read, they have done another 8k onthe front and have 3mm

WhereAs the Goodyear have done over 12k on the front, and 8k on the rear and they have 5mm remaining. So for a tyre which is £10 more to buy I think it'll be worth it.

I liked Kumho on my passat, and have the ku31 on my Elise and they are great for the price, that on the other and runs super grippy ( what I need) on Yokohama... But only get 6-8k from rears :)
