As you all problably know by now im looking for a set of either 16 or 17 inch AMG's for my C class.

In the meantime I have 2 sets of wheels to play with

Set 1 15" AMG - in my opinion, look too small but ride and handling is excellent and they are genuine AMG

Set " 17" alessio - fill the arches better but ride quality isnt as good

which should I use while waiting for the right wheels to come along ?

just out of interest could you give an indication of your age if replying

As much as I like the AMGs, I must admit the Alessio's do suit the car better as it fills the arches. I am 26.

AMG's. They're too small but the Alessio's look a bit Vectra. Late 30's; can't remember exactly anymore!

I am a less is more man but the AMG's suit this car better as it looks more like a merc should. proper wheels and proper tyres on a proper car.

them others look too lexus ish to me.

plus the ride will be better with more rubber.

its the badge on the bonnet you notice not the rubber. when was the last time you looked at a merc and said, nice wheels shame about the car? now try the same with any other car! see my point?

i am 4

I think neither of those two options, the 17's look cheap (although i agree they probably weren't) and very rice racerish wheras the 15" AMG rims make the car look "under wheeled". Wait for a set of 16's they'll look better - i saw a set of 16" CLK elegance wheels for a bargain price over at the MB Club forums - maybe they are worth a look

I agree with Andy K. In addition to the CLK wheel, there are also 2 types of standard MB 17" wheels from the current C class range that should look pretty smart on your car. I have seen it done and the result is great.

However if using MB items isn't a 'must' for you, then I would point you to the OZ multispoke wheels. Try the 17" in black, these should also look great when matched with your silver bodywork.

I think you are having a mid life crisis and wish to return to your boy racer roots! Size is everything, but it also helps if you know what to do! As you appear indecisive you need a smack in the right direction. Try putting one set on one side and the other set on the other and get the best of both worlds! I would offer to help but I dont have the first idea how to change a wheel! Nice men always volunteer and insist I stand and watch. :D

28 if it helps.

Now that's a good one to quote in future!

Should you decide to go the 15" AMG route would you be looking to sell the 17" wheels? If so, how much for roughly?

Class without looking a boy racer

(1) if you want a true comparrison try photographing the card in the same place with both sets of wheels not propped up the kerb tilting the suspension and altering the ride hight

(2) The 17" look aggresive, edgy and if your a boy racer...hello Mr. Policeman...extra points for the boot spoiler and even more if your young.

(3) The 15" are far too small but have more class

I would suggest trying wheel websites via www.mercedesperformance.com ..many us based with web sites which show you a merc with the wheels you want fitted

18" hard ride 17" firm fill arches well when lowered but chose merc sport / AMG copies or fit merc centre caps 16" good ride comfortable and not prone to kerbing 15" don't let anyone tell you different size matters. (nb see brabus site bigger rears smaller fronts /sports suspension)...tyre price for 18" £140 16" £65 each for decent tyres at blackcircle.com

NB The gap between tyre and arch will only reduce if you lower the suspension..the rolling surface stays the same so you don't have to recalibrate the speedo..bigger wheels more grip slower accel more top end smaller wheels the opposite...just a balance thing.

PS like the boy kit -was it aftermarket - I'd go for 17 or 18" in the AMG style and sports supension age 28

Thanks for all the replies

Just for info, im 38 and although I want the car to look nice I dont want the "max power" look.

I sort agree with everyone, if thats possible ?

The 17s do fill the arches better but I have to agree that they look a bit boy racer.

The AMGs, although too small do look a little more classy

I would prefer, if possible to stick with wheels from the mercedes or AMG stable.

Suppose id better start looking for some 16s !!!!
