Which would you have?

We had a CL63 216 in, and a 500SL R129 in, both for repairs and servicing.




I know the answer from most, but which would you choose?

Funny you say that, owner of the R129 is looking to sell actually.

103,000 miles
Recent service includes, plugs, engine oil,filter, brake fluid, coolant change. Dynax underbody cleaning and coating.
Only issues ATM is the PSE pump, as it exploded. A lovely car otherwise.

It depends on use case, but having had both, I can tell you I still miss my R129 since I sold it

If you don't have a garage, like me, or a huge house it becomes rather unwieldy in the summer months!

I’ve had my SL nearly 6 years now and had a SLK for about 4 before that . I love every drive I have in mine.

I used to drive mine over to the Algarve back in the day. Perfect car for it!

You should have offered the choice of both!

I never saw a problem with W164, R129 and C216…..but management said 3x V8 was too much

Doing mine next year, already got fluid, accumulators, o-rings, just need some decent weather

I’d have to go for the CL63, I already have an SL500, 129.

really though, not sure as have never driven a CL, though expect that it is also a very nice car to be..

SL500 - More simpler robust mechanicals equals an easier life.

That said, an early 129 is a cocophony of random tech, that changes completely year on year until a round 1996.

Neither for me. Both are lovely cars, but I prefer something that feels glued to my arse in the twisties. 129 is a lovely wafty cruiser with the too down, 216 is a hot rod limousine. I think I made my position clear over lunch last week

I know you do, but choice is the spice of life! Why not one vehicle for destroying your spine and another for massaging it!

If you’d have said a 216 65 then I’d say that, but you only gave the 63, soooo, I’ll still choose that lol
