Happy New Year all, I hope everyone is well.

Over the last few days I have noticed that the pump is a little noisy when moving the wheel. I've opened up the reservoir and cannot see any fluid, so well below the mark. Is the first course of action to fill up to the correct level with some fluid?

Many thanks
Andy

Yes to making sure the fluid is at the correct level

Is the noise when held at full lock? If so don't hold it at full lock as it isn't good for the system

I've not tried it at full lock, is that worth a try?
I will look at what fluid is suitable for my car.

Many thanks

No, holding power steering at full lock is bad

Top the fluid up and it will most likely quieten down. There will be a leak somewhere as the system shouldn't require topping up

Happy New Year Andy...
As the others have said, get some fluid in there and afterwards after a few spins back and fore it should settle down

Thanks all, I will monitor from now on, this is the first time that I have opened the top to look in.

Cheers John.

As soon as I removed the filler cap the noise reduced almost to nothing, have filled to the correct amount and it's been fine, maybe there was some air somewhere.

Thanks all.
