Why are all the Cops arrogant wee boys these days?

Should you have been out on the road driving?

Yes, I am allowed to drive. Sadly the biggest problem of the side effects is how intermittent they are. I can be fine for days, weeks or months and then have issues due to many different factors. I will not let a disease rule my life by tying me to the bathroom, life goes on, and my quality of life and capabilities are as good (and sometimes better), than many other people, who still drive, thank God.
It's all down to management of diet, exercise and medication.

Jimbo were they 'traffic'? Even regular cops hate 'traffic' My BiL was 'traffic', when at family events no one would even have a shandy or park their car at the venue if he was there in case he 'did' us :mad: He is now a Professor at an overseas university specialising in policing, but he's still a tw4t with the 'traffic' mentality. We now tell him so to his face

I had a pull in my 1st year of driving, not for speeding but cos I was a youngster. Old cop, spotty oik in uniform. I too was bursting for a pee, so during the time the oik was going over the car with a fine tooth comb I relieved myself over the rear offside wheel, the oik had a hissy fit, the old un nearly wet himself. I recall something I said about them being in a boy racer car with the go faster stripes. The older cop tore a strip off the oik for being a tw4t. I'd like to think it was a lesson for him :D:D

We all have to pee and poo after all. If I were you I'd probably have had a dump there and then tbh. The young un might have learned something ;)

Proper cops do a good job in my experience. A thankless task most of the time.

I approached a mini roundabout in the correct lane when a car tried to speed through in the wrong lane and was going to cut in ahead of me - I thought bo**ocks to letting him in so just turned left and kept him out - he then roared past (30mph limit) and indicated and pulled over. I pulled up behind him and out he got and came towards the car. All 6’ 2” and 20 stone of me got out and he slowed his approach. I noticed he had a young lady in his car so suspected him showing off. He said he was an off duty policeman and started to lecture me. I asked for sight of his warrant card as I wanted to report him - I made a great gesture of taking his reg number and he then quietened down and tried to end the conversation by saying don’t do it again. I thought only way to sort a bully was a bit of bullying myself so I followed him to his car and in front of his young lady explained how the arrows in the road define which lane to use and he couldn’t be a real policeman as there was clearly something wrong with his vision. He went red but very humorously his young lady showed her warrant card and said he drove like a complete tw*t ! Job done.
Off duty plain clothes PC ,in an unmarked car isn't legally allowed to stop you buddy :D

Exactly - have to be booked in at the station and officially on duty or otherwise, you are a civilian.

Yep, I know, my oldest lad seriously wants to join up and I think he'd be great at it too. A more honest, honourable, level headed man I've yet to meet, makes me proud to be his father. A tribute to his parents. :geek:

I don't know if they were Traffic, although I suspect they were.
No white caps on, plain white BMW with blues on the front partially hidden by the grille.

I agree but, I just couldn't, the humiliation would have been too much.
My OCD would have forced me to murder any witnesses through shame and that's just bad manners.

Plus I would have gotten $hit all over the interior of my pride and joy, do you think they would have made me get in their BMW to book me then? Probably not, they would have just left me standing in a pool of my own $hit as punishment.

Nope I couldn't, mind the smell would have knocked them out and, then they would have had some embarrassing explaining to do to their Inspector, along the lines of "we lost our car keys." :D:D

I was a part timer (with full police power, including carrying a firearm, doing about 40 hours / month for free). I found that there were those that hated cops and those that respected them - strangely the cop haters (you know the type) were usually the first to call for our assistance. As mentioned here, most cops are pretty good guys often, doing a really horrible job. Nothing worse than arriving at an accident with a family wiped out because some a%%hole thought that he was above the law on the road or was justified in speeding!

If you break the law take your medicine....

Agreed, however, I'm curious what would you have done in my shoes? $hit yourself or tried to get home?

The police run towards danger when the rest of us are running away.

That's it really.

Only because they have too and I don't mean that in a derogatory fashion either. Some are adrenaline junkies, some love to be close to the action. Some believe it's their duty. It's their drug.

As a former special, I saw a mix of police officers and their attitudes and its fair to say, traffic coppers were the most....difficult by personality, but most of them were alright as long as you allowed them to say their bit, unless you were doing something really daft, they would let you off with ticking.

However, the working day as a cop can be pretty grim, as I well know, especially when most RTCs are caused by excess speed and then poor decision making by the one driving or by spooking other drivers who react to what you are doing. And then its left to you to pull someone out of the wreck, maybe console them as they are dying, holding limbs and puncture wounds in place whilst the paramedics stabilise the fluids and monitors and the fire crew cut the car apart, and then the glorious job of telling their families the bad news.

So I can see why it would rub a copper up the wrong way, especially when the excuse you used was the oldest one in the book. All he has done is witnessed you breaking the law, regardless of the circumstances, he doesnt know that sat behind the wheel of his car. You don't know, but he may have just dealt with a grim situation or another cocky so and so and you were another one doing something daft. So its not always as clear cut as you may think.

I would not have come on a forum to make the police look bad when it is really all my own fault!

Ah the master debater’s tactic/trick, don’t answer the question and change the subject by making an unrelated statement.
I can see that we can only agree to disagree sir, best to stop now I think, good day.

Not sure how you'd cope if you had a run-in with the continental police. Was driving back to Spain from Calais when I got stopped for crossing a solid white line (was a DC realised at last minute my lane was turnign off and didn't want to go, seemed it was a known spot as they's set up a trap and lots of French cars pulled for same reason). After taking my docs (car is Spanish, licence/passport UK) he made me wait 10 minutes in the car (shouted at me to sit down when I got out to get some air), looked the car over, then obviously decided it was too much bother to write a fine so just threw all my documents on the passenger seat and told me to go.

But the thing was I was able to get on my journey and I didn't have to pay anything (and he didn't notice the expired MOT I was driving back to Spain for ) so I was rather happy despite his attitude and having to pull in 5 minutes later to reorganise all my documentation . Surprised you aren't the same.... I understand why you sped but it's not justified in law and he wouldn't know you were telling the truth so I'd just be pleased to get away with it...
