Why do some people get so annoyed with others bad driving?
We all have to share the same road. Is somebody tries to overtake me, I hold back and let him do it. If he goes and wraps it around a tree, It wont be my fault or my concern.
Getting annoyed and either making gestures of flashing your headlights will only boost their ego and force a reaction on their part. I thought that part of being an experienced driver was to check your mirrors often enough to see what's going on around you and not speed up when some little pr*ck in a XR2 tries to overtake you. I have a TVR and get a lot of them trying to race or overtake me. I just let them get on with it. When I want to push my car to my limit (not the car's), I take it to the track for a day.
There will always be some idiots on the road but you getting upset about it will not improve their driving skills.
Take the IAM test or any advanced driving course and becoming more aware of other road users will probably calm you down. You will spot them idiots much quicker and not feel obliged to raise to the challenge

Interesting what Marnix says, just because you are driving a sports car they want to race you, I back off and leave them to it. I have never blown my horn or flashed my lights, not once in my life.
When someone overtakes you, and then immediatly turns left making you brake hard, is beyond me.
Still it takes all sorts

I am far from being to good to be true, I just don't think it helps or alters a situation, the right look works wonders.

Life for me changed some 20 years ago, my old dad got to the stage in life where he moaned and complained about everyone, he even thought the weather forcast man was refering to his house. I vowed from that point in time to never get angry or to argue over anything. In business it hurts when you bend over backwards to help someone and they get nasty, I just give a refund or replacement, so simple.

So be happy and live a little longer.

I'm missing something here I think. Are you in a line of traffic and somebody is overtaking you...why are you not overtaking the cars in front?

I'm not being funny here but one thing that bugs me is people that will sit right behind a lorry and make no effort to overtake, they sit close so they can't see and end up making it difficult for other people to overtake. If they are happy at the speed of the lorry, why not drop back 50m? (It's the same people that do 40mph on country roads and then still do 40mph in the 30mph areas I think)

I always make a point of cutting in on the car right behind the lorry then dropping back 50m or so. When the next overtaking chance occurs I accelerate into it and leave the irrate motorist miles behind the lorry, hoping that he will understand what is going on. If nothing else, somebody will have space to pull in, in front of him now.

If you want to combat people cutting in. Try dropping back when cars are coming the other way and as the road clears, speed up a little. If somebody wants to overtake they will have to make a positive move to do so.

.

Where I live we have tractors with trailers, and then 6 cars all bunched together with no intention of overtaking, that's where my Volvo scores I just kick it, the tyres screech and I go past them all in one go, I love doing that,
some of the other cars blow their horn but I am gone.

No I dont so mean thing's like that.....I mean just alot of que jumping and cutting up inc just blatant blindness, ignorance, pushiness, arrogance ect ect.

But as TV said (and I aggreed) I will have to start learning to really relax "out there"....but again said previous.....I got a ****** fright today when picking her up from work.

Coming out a roundabout right indicator's on, then on my left left (even she thought he'd hit the car) Mr flash in his jag come's right out from nowhere, no indicator's no nothing and dam near right into her door...

I also find young girl's very bad, arrogant, pushy too...

Yes, no real sense of anything going on, had one yesterday trying to overtake me on a very windy norrow road, when I got to the lights at road works, she's sitting there putting on make up, and I did not see her again.

I mean they must get taught how to drive when they get their licencese's, but after that.....god know's what's going on in the their head's.

So if there's any girl's reading this..........well!!!!....what the hell IS your problem!

Thing is too, maybe like many other's here too....because I ride bike's and have done for years, I'm more aware than most, and I think that's why I'm probably more critical of other driver's.

Like the new advert for car driver's to be look harder/better/wait for biker's that was on tonight.......christ even I got the fright of my life watching it!

I have also noticed young girls driving very fast, way beyond their abilty. They also sit very close to the screen.

You never see older women driving like this...I guess that says it all (think about it).

My mate did that in his Beemer. The tractor turned right into him!

Tractors are a nightmare.

Tomorrow is market day in Stirling, I have to leave early as a lot of farmers use their tractors to go to the market to sell their duck or whatever.

In my cycling days, I could usually catch a tractor and overtake it. The great bit was when I pulled out to overtake and a car followed me through. I bet they wondered if they were ever going to make it.

The funny thing about the tractor situation is that it's the only time motorists wait their turn to overtake.

Tractors at night should be banned. The driver is so high up he wouldn't notice if the oncoming traffic was on full beam. The tractors have lights high up and some have them on the roof. Their normal lights give no impression as to the width of their vehicle and it is difficult for a motorist to work out how far they are away due to the headlights being close together.

Don't get me started on the grass/hedge cutting lot.
