Flummoxed. Had both our phones registered to the car, would get in and start engine, if phone first connected to Cora's phone I could just go Tel - Bluetooth Phones - Chris and it switched to mine. Now I cannot get either phone to connect - I even resorted to RTFM without success!! Crazy thing is I get into my car (the SLK) and it immediately connects to my phone!! I've tried search etc, get to "enter access code on NTG4 and phone", but phone does not see MB. ****** fancy electrics!!

Having had 3 Mercs with hands free phone capability, I've sometimes found pairing can be a bit hit and miss. Some phones search for MB and find it and connect. Some can't find MB, but Comand can find the phone??? Have you tried getting Comand to try and find the phone and the phone trying to find Comand.

Hope you get it sorted :)

I've tried every trick I could think of, even RTFM for goodness sake!

First thought would be the Bluetooth module in the car has failed. Not sure where this is or even if it's built into the head unit, but if nothing is being detected on your phone, it has to be a candidate. Thinking as I'm typing, can you disable Bluetooth from the head unit? Has it been turned off for some reason? I'd expect an error code maybe if it did fail, but not guaranteed depending on how it's failed.

When I turn the car on and press Tel, the screen says "ready for Bluetooth" or similar, my phone (Samsung Galaxy A10) has Bluetooth turned on so I tell the car to search for phones, it does not find my phone. Initially it still had my phone listed, but would not connect to it, now it does not show my phone and does not find it. Telling the phone to find, it does not find MB. Gave up yesterday, had to come in to cook dinner.

Have you got any other Bluetooth devices you can try (apart from your wife's phone which you say also does not work) just to see if anything else picks up a signal? I know the headset says Ready for Bluetooth, but if the phones can "see" each other but not the car and the car can't see anything, it definitely points to the Bluetooth in the car, even if the head unit thinks it is working, especially as you phone(s) work in your other car.

It may well need to go on diagnostic to fully investigate unfortunately.

It gets worse - my phone will not connect in the SLK! Initially the phone was not seeing MB Bluetooth, so I restarted the phone so now it sees MB, the SLK NTG2.5 shows my phone as suthorised but it will not connect! Too much else going on right now, wife had an operation on her right thumb Friday afternoon and is having a rough ride in the aftermath, so "housework" is keeping me busy.

Have the phones had a software update recently?
Is there a software update available for them?
I’d switch off the phones (as much as you can these days) then restart them, delete the pairings in the phone (and in the cars) then re-pair them.

Thanks Russ, it's on the back burner ATM as Cora's thumb top joint fusion is causing far more problems than expected - hospital said paracetamol, but I'm having to use not just those but also 15mg codeine and also 30/500 co-codamols, not a great choice as codeine has a side effect of constipation which she already suffers courtesy of something 3 years ago! Also her right thumb having a large dressing means she's only really able to use her left hand, so I have far more than normal "housework" duties - and I'm not the fittest person on the planet!
I've re-started my phone, that got it seeing MB bluetooth again, but anything further will have to wait. It's just ****** annoying as neither of us did anything to change the status quo on our phones or with either car.

Hope Cora is on the mend soon. It’s likely a software update on the phones that’s thrown the Bluetooth off.
