Sorry if this has been asked but I can't seem to find anything on here or the web.

What is the widest size I can go on the rear and front? Without any modification.

A merc specialist in my area says 9.5j on the rear won't fit. I think they would and possibly 10/10.5j with rolling the fenders.

Ive found few decent rims but they are for bmw's so I'm thinking of getting some hubcentric spacers 5x112 to 5x120 and putting them on. Or can they be fitted with an adaptor.

The rims are expensive brand new specific to my car.

I personally like the deep concave rims but the majority of cars that have them are Audi, Porsche or American cars.

Any help appreciated.

One more question are the Audi and merc rim specs the same?

Youre also restricted to wheels that take an M14 bolt with an 14mm radius ballhead bolt unless you go aftermarket.

Thanks guys. I think I'm figuring this out. A rim with an et38 add 20mm spacers that will make it et58 correct?

From what I can tell from scouring the net 20x10j et34 front and 20x10.5j et30 rears should fit. Unless of course I've still got it ll wrong.

Each to their own... (that last one looks ridiculous, will handle like poo and ride worse than poo).

However....
An ET 58 rim with a 20mm spacer will give an ET38 equivalent (not the other way round).
Also remember to consider what happens on full lock. At the front wheels turn left or right they will get closer to the wheelarches (and evidence of wheels touching arches is an instant MOT fail).

For example a car with 245/45/17s ET37 going to 255/35/19s ET37 works fine but adding 15mm of spacer causes the wheels to rub the front and back of the inner arch when on lock (outer wing is fine).

No, an ET38 with a 20mm Spacer is an ET18 so the wheel will sit further out of the arch.

The W204 has

Front: 8Jx18 ET50 with 225/40 R18 tyres
Rear: 8.5Jx18 ET54 with 255/35 R18 tyres

Brabus will put:

Front: 8.5Jx20 with 235/30 R20 Tyres
Rear: 9.5Jx20 with 265/25R20 Tyres

BUT not with a dish or big concave as the ET is too high

you might find a small concave on an ETA BETA wheel

^ This. Always remember the higher the ET, the closer the centre of the wheel is to the hub. Adding a 20mm spacer is reducing the ET.

I can see you are going to have problems by not getting the correct fitment (5x112), the bolt size (M14 radius head) or ET.

As said above, each to their own! That look is just awful in my eyes (I’m probably a dinosaur mind!!), but mainly you’ll be travelling at 20mph everywhere in fear of hitting a bump in the road and driving your tyre into the arch!

lol thanks guys, I've always liked the concave look as I've had a set on my zx. the picture of the 350z is extreme but the blue bmw is nice. Either way thanks for the information guys. I personally don't want to start modifing the arches, suspension and adding spacers (have my zx for that) etc figured a wide enough rim with the right et would do me good.

So out of curiosity a rim with et25 to et55 would fit without the need for spacers etc?

No its not that simple.
The ET that will work will depend on the width of the rim.

Used to have a C63...
As per LK, you'll need to work on a wheel by wheel basis.

Basically the ET offset will take in to account the dish depth (and hopefully centre of mass). A good supplier should be able to guide you what spacers you'll need.

Only word of caution from me - MB's seem to be very very sensitive to suspension geometry...!

Totally agree. Not just geometry either - even different tyres front and rear can upset them quite significantly.

I have always used H&R DRA (bolt on) spacers, they are made for the car so fit perfectly every time, no issues at all

Yeah but that’s because you know what youre doing and buy the right kit Jon- most don’t which is why I don’t have much faith!
