Is anyone using a E200K estate for towing and does it do the job effortlessly?

Also are self fit tow bars available for 2001 E class?

Plus what designation is it known as.

I am planning on buying E200Komp estate this week so urgent replies appreciated

Towsure list a tow bar for the E class http://www.towsure.co.uk/ but i have a removable one from Bosal fitted to my E320 diesel and as well as looking a lot better its a little higher than the fixed one would be meaning the caravan sits level.

There is a service that checks car v caravan weight for you but i cant remember their name try a post on this forum

performance wise i'm sure it wont be an issue and i'm pretty sure the car is heavy enough as well but its better to be sure

Maddog, when you had yours fitted did you have to drill anything or are the mounts already in the bodywork? I want to make sure if someone says to me that they have to drill my precious that I will know if the are bodging the wrong one on. I'll take a £20,000.00 chance and try the Komp for towing as its being delivered this weekend.

I had it fitted at MB when i bought the car it was a sweetener so i have no idea what it cost or how it was fitted.

As i said its very discreet all the mountings are under the car including the electrics so all you see is a small plastic cap perhaps 3x3" under the bumber behind which the tow bar connects.

I personally leave tow bar fitment to the experts i had one fitted to my van recently and they guy came to my house to do it and it was £200 fitted with twin electrics. Peace of mind for i reckon although he didnt have to drill anything to fit it to the van.
