Hi I need an opinion.

My car just has had bodywork done, whole part has been cut out and replaced. Unfortunately including the window, but the fitted part is with clear window. Garage want me to just put film on it, saying, that it's the only window which is never with factory tint. Can anyone tell me if that's correct, or any suggestions what should I be careful about?

Thanks in advance

what's the opposite window like? If that's factory tint, then this window will be available in factory tint. I suspect that the garage is just fobbing you off

On another thread I saw someone saying if it has the dots around, it's just foil. Pic below is before, has the dots, so now thinking garage is right, just don't understand why some windows on the car has factory tint and some just foil.

This is factory tint:

You will probably be able to match it with a film tint alternately it would be ordering a new glass from MB or finding a donor car

Thank you, it seems very different last two windows on mine has like a frame around, but now I see, it was like that before, so will probably go for the film.

You say from MB, I forgot to mention the repair has been done by MB, and told by them it's always film on the back ‍♀️

Make sure the film tint has the same light percentage as the opposite window.
The police are very hot on dark tints now.

Only on B Pillar forward - no interest in the back

If this is an insurance claim then it should be repaired to like condition, i.e. you are to be made whole. Some insurance companies will push back and that is where the state AG or Insurance Commissioner came in. The insurance company does not do business in the state without their explicit permission.

The whole lot B pillar back has had window tint film applied , the reason the passenger electric window looks best like factory privacy glass is because it adheres perfectly because there are no dots around the edge or line , just pure window .

Why not just re-use the original glass from the removed portion?
