So, I have my new C Class, and was thinking what I could do to add to the individuality, without going silly, and making it look like a chav-mobile .............. My last car had tints as standard, and lifted the cars looks, aswell as making it more comfortable in sunny weather( remember those 3 days in the summer we have, when the sun is out?)

So I'm thinking, light Tints to the front side, and darker tints to the rear side, and back window ( to stay legal) . what ya reckon ??

And can anyone in the Midlands/North Warks area, reccomend a tinter ?

Leave the fronts alone. Even a light tint could take you the wrong side of acceptable in the eyes of the law.

From the 'B' pillar back, go for it! (but do get a good proffesional job done) :D

personally i reckon darker back windows that front ones looks really bad, as its so obvious its and aftermarket job it looks chavvier than not having it done at all, shouldnt need it done anyway with aircon.

Totally agree, leave the front windows alone. A light tint on them could be enough to give the cops an excuse to pull you.

I thought about tinting the windows on my C-class but then thought better of it.

I reckon it looks great on the estates, or an S-class. You can get away with it on the E-class too - but it just doesn't really look right on a C-class, looks a bit chav!

Except of course this is also a factory option (Privacy Glass) 'B' pillar rearwards.. ;)

Whether it looks chavy is personal taste and even the best aircon works better still with a little help :)

I have 60% tints on the front and 95% on all from the B back on my 211 estate and i think it looks great. It also helps when the little ones are watching the screens in the back. I had the same on my A6 estate for 5 years, got pulled for illegal plates, speeding but never for the tints. So long as you dont go to mad with the fronts tou should be ok.

I was told you are not allowed any tint on the front but someone else said you have to have at least 50% light coming in through the front windows. As i have said i have 60% tint on the front windows with a light interior and have no problems with the police so far. I even have 2 police living opposite and round the corner that i talk to when cleaning/working on my car and neither has ever commented on the windows being tinted on this or my last car. I think you would either have to upset the officer or be in an accident for reasonable tints to be an issue.

Police round our way are now carrying light meters. Bit of a crackdown on tints. Fronts mush allow 70% light through (windscreen 75%)

The tints are a pig to get off, I had a child incident in my Audi and it took hours to get the glue off. Still better than £2000 though.

If you have a reading of 71% or above the police can ask you to remove or tear a strip off the tint there and then before you drive away or they can impound the car. Mine was tested at 65% on the front payed the £30 fine and that was that. Regarding future prosecution this was not mentioned.
