I have a mystery relating to my CLK, it has blue side and rear windows, but a green/grey tint to the windscreen. I know it has had a windscreen replaced, but I am convinced it should have a blue tint windscreen to match side and rear windows. Suspiciously, the plastic fitting that held the rear view mirror in place and sits against the windscreen, covering where a rain sensor would be, was missing when purchased.
What I am trying to find out is 2 things. Do Avantgardes have blue tint windscreens? and mine has been refitted with the wrong one?
And if it should be blue, does that also mean that the rain sensor is missing? The dealership who supplied are doing a check against chasis number, but I am truly surprised Mercedes supply cars from the factory with different tints windscreen, side and rear windows?

Avantgarde glass is a different colour to Classic/Elegance. You seem to have the wrong colour glass fitted. As far as I recall mine is blue but was a different colour for other models, have to consult the sales specification.

On the bottom [or top] corner of the windscreen where you see the manufacturer's name there are some codes which give the year and month of manufacture. Mine are all 00 except my windscreen which says 04 due to my replacing it last year. There are also either dots or other numbers which will indicate the month of manufacture. These may vary as they are probably bought in from more than one supplier and they each tend to have different coding systems. The other window year codes and month codes should all match, be suspicious if a few of them are off....stock rotation means they should all be within a month or two of each other.

As Olaf says, I am pretty sure grey tint is for elegance and blue for Avantgarde. (Mine is grey, Olaf's is blue). Sounds like someone fitted the elegance screen at some point. Presumably you didn't buy it from a Merc dealer or they would know this straight off.

If yours is an avantgarde (I presume it is) it should have a rain sensor as far as I am aware. What do the wipers do on the first switch position?
