Hi there,

The reason for my post is because I have a question regarding the exterior trim directly below the Windscreen/windshield on my 2012 W204 CD220 (scuttle). I've recently had my windscreen replaced and have noticed that the trim does not sit flush against the edge of the glass.

As I have a high degree of OCD regarding my vehicles, I am now worried that water (albeit rain, or from washing the car) will seep into the area and cause rust/damage.

A friend did attempt to make it flush, but apparently the more he pushed down to click it, the lower it became.

Should this be flush and waterproof?

Many thanks

Dom

I would return to whoever fitted the screen if you have concerns, or let main dealer quality check it.

Hi and welcome.
I understand your concern and I would be too. However, I can't really see much from the photos-sorry.
I believe the actual seal is the bonding between the glass and metal frame of the car. This being the case, the car ought to be waterproof (and not likely to rust) as long as the glass has been bonded in properly.

Thanks for the reply guys (yes I will definitely ask a dealers opinion).

The windscreen has been put on very well, it's more the scuttle trim at the bottom I am concerned about. Ideally the lip of the scuttle area should rest under the glass, but unfortunately due to age (six years old??), it doesn't. Having looked at a few other C204 models, mine is actually not that bad.

A Mercedes independent told me not to worry about it, as they thought it was more for sound/wind proofing.

Out of curiosity, is there an area to keep important components dry?

Thanks

Dom
