Windscreen wiper and wash problem

I have just taken possession of my E400d 4Matic Cab (2019).

I spent some time in the car today cleaning it, connecting my phone etc, and familiarising myself with the controls.

However, I couldn't make the windscreen wipers, nor the wash work at all.
Perhaps I'm being a bit dense, but I thought that on the indicator stalk, you twist for the various speeds of wiper, tap the end button for a single wipe, and push it in all the way for a screen wash. None of these actions produced a result of any kind. Indicators all work OK though. Whilst it had been raining, the screen was dry (as I had cleaned it with a microfiber cloth). I would have thought that would only affect the auto mode though?

I've no error codes, or messages showing up.

Am I missing something? Please put me out of my misery!

Properly closed??? (Not being funny here... but if it doesn't latch fully, the cut-out kicks in to protect wiper arms and trailing edge of bonnet).

OK, you guys rule.
I pressed on the bonnet and it was closed properly, but no wipers.
So I reopened it, and gave it a bit of a slam - bingo - wipers and washer both working!

I'm a mug for trying not to slam doors & bonnets... normally end up closing bonnet 2-3 times!

Vish, I replied to your welcome post amd note you are new to the MB brand. As a side its most useful if not imperative to find yourself a mercedes indy for looking after your car. I dont mean a specialist we fix all cars, or a german car specialist, but a MB only specialist.
Where are you located, so someone can provide a recommendation.

I’m near junction 3 of the M3 (Windlesham). The car is still under warranty until middle of next year.
I’ve heard of Tim Purslow and Huxleys, but I’ve no idea how good they are!

All recommendations gratefully received…
