The windscreen wiper persistently fails to clears the screen - It leaves water on the return wipe on the drivers side. I have had a new blade put on and MB have increased the tension of the wiper but the problem persists - Any further ideas?

Thanks - Stephen

If a new rubber was fitted correctly and MB would appear to be happy with the pressure of the blade on the glass, that would leave possibly something on the glass itself.. I would clean the windscreen with Cif (formaly called Jif) household cleaner.

Gently rub it on the glass generously and leave for 5 minutes and WIPE IT ALL OFF with a clean clothe and rinse off with plenty of water. .Cif contains silica sand it will not harm the glass if it is done gently . DO NOT GET ANY OF IT ON THE PAINTWORK. This may not solve the problem but you will have the cleanest windscreen around.

It is important the the arm sits parallel to the screen

Is this drops of water or smears?

Drops are usual, seems MB design will flick water back onto screen

Drops of water - As you say , it flicks back on the return of the wipe.

The problem is it is right in my line of sight and is a dangerous distraction?

You believe that this is a recognised design fault?

Thanks,

Stephen

I would avoid any abrasive cleaner, for obvious reasons. If you think it may be oil or grease, use washing up liquid. With regard to the drops of water, treat your screen with Ombrello, which seals the surface and the water will fly off. There are many available eg Rain ex but Ombrello lasts for a long time.

Ombrello, otherwise known as Aquapel

(ps - washing up liquid is bulked up with salt, not good for your car when you wash it off the screen)

I doubt very much it will be recognised as a design fault.

It appears quite random on my car (I have the double wipers though)

As malcolm suggested earlier it would appear your wiper arm isnt parallell to the screen. Try stopping the wiper ..by switching off the ignition.. where the blade is flipping over and causing the problem.. then check if it is parallel to the screen . it can be twisted either way with an adjustable wrench that is a snug fit on the arm...

Hi Stephen720

If the wiper arm is not misaligned in some way and the rubber blade is not defective, what windscreen wash solution do you use? I assume your windscreen is free of grease and other contamination.
