The wing Mirror handle (drivers side) on my 1991 300TE is missing. What is the best option, if I shove a screwdriver in the hole will it work or will I break something?

All help gratefully recieved.

probably best to try a medium long bolt

if the missing handle has left a hole. They are easy enough to take off, just prise the triangular trim piece off gently and you'll see the retaining screws, if memory serves.

Thanks.

Will I ever get the trim back on though?

of course, I could be wrong

and it might be the trim piece on the outside you need to look at to get the mirror off, if you want it off. It was on my w202. These senior moments will be the end of me.

Only takes a coupla seconds to adjust it from the outside with the mirror itself.... My interior lever thing has almost siezed up, so I generally tend to adjust it this way anyway.

A minor hardship....
