I'm on my way down to Ashton Manchester, that always depresses me.
They've even got snow there, but the lady might've been talking about drugs come to think of it.

Used to use tax free gin when I was in Germany in the 60's, cheaper than screen wash then.
Yup, I mentioned it not in jest I've been in Latvia in deepest winter -25oC and lower and that's what they use there, cheaper than screen wash

Shovelled my drive and the 4 neighbours out to the main road. Also elderly neighbours steps for her.

Had 3”+ and getting it shovelled before it’s driven on means it’s less likely to freeze.

Me too. A bit late though as it's best to clear it and let the sun sort of dry it, or it can end up like an ice rink if it freezes.

According to the hand book the washer bottle on the mine has a heater element in it. Iv'e yet to find out, but I put some winter screen wash in the other day just in case.

5litres isopropyl alcohol, dilute as you want (you can run trial in your freezer if you really want!) £20 delivered max. works down to -90 when undiluted and will last you ages. add a splash of fairy or similar. Its really all screenwash is.

Fairy is the very last thing you want in your screen wash. It contains loads of salt to break up grease in your washing up.

the paint and all other parts of my my car are designed to withstand salt and other common contaminants, in much higher concentrations, so yes.

The irony is, a lot of what you are washing off is salty road spray...

If they'll serve you, the Quantum Premium Fanjet stuff from TPS (VAG's Trade Parts Service) seems pretty good. It's around a fiver for 5 litres.

I had my first frozen wash morning 2 days ago, so I'm overdue the filling with a better wash fluid that doesn't freeze.
In the past I've filled with stuff that says it's good for low minus temps, put it in the freezes and sure enough it freezes, even neat.

Any suggestions for good stuff?

I've always used this stuff and it's never frozen on me yet and I think the lowest temperature we've experienced was -8*C. That's mixed 4:1

Regarding screen wash...before I got my car I read about Mercedes owners having problems with clogged screen wash systems while their cars were still under manufacturers warranty. It said that Mercedes were refusing warranty claims due to non Mercedes screen wash having been used which caused a build up of jelly like liquid which completely clogged the system. I believe this also happened with BMW.
I made the decision right there to always use Mercedes branded screen wash whenever necessary.
My situation will probably be different to most though, because I drive less than 5k miles a year and can go between services without needing to top up my screen wash reservoir.

I bought 5 litres of this stuff, £18.44.
I'm diluting into mine and Mrs me's car at approx 35%, so should be good down to -12.

While the front and light washers have no issue the rear blocks, but I think that's more down to salt and road cr*p that is deposited in abundance back there. A needle and blow through and it clears, no jelly deposit.
But to be safe the other stuff I bought can wait for some one else.
